Channel Drain

Channel drains (aka known as slot drains, linear floor drains, perimeter drains and strip drains) are used most effectively to catch, channel and divert storm water on impervious surfaces.  Some common impervious surfaces that channel drains are used on are asphalt and concrete driveways, concrete and hardscaped patios and pads and around pools.

Many driveways in our area are graded improperly and storm rainwater accumulates and flows into garages.  Installing a channel drain near garage entrances can intercept this water and channel it underground to a more suitable location.  Slot drains installed in concrete pads and patios will absorb standing water from the surface eliminating water ponding on these non draining areas.

There are channel drains meant only for foot traffic (patio installation) and channel drains meant for vehicular traffic (driveway installation).  Using channel drains that are meant only for foot traffic in driveway and vehicular applications is not a good idea as the channel drain will break.  Trust our company to choose the right type of drain for your project.

Besides choosing the correct channel drain for your job, it is also important to install the drain correctly so it lasts.  These drains need to be installed with a correct amount of sub base that is tamped in very well.  Concrete should be poured on 4 inches wide on each side of the drain to make sure it stays in place and does not move in the future.
