E&S Enterprise can turn that baron outdoor space into a beautiful yard by laying sod.  Installing sod is considered "instant grassification" because it is the quickest and easiest way to get a great looking lawn.  We at E&S Enterprise install sod the right way using a tried and true method that will give you a yard full of grass that is beautiful and will last.  Preparation and know-how is the key to a successful sod installation.  Our company does the job right, the first time because we are experienced and do not cut corners.  Our sod installation procedure consists of:

Step 1: Tilling up the ground
We till up the entire ground area that is to receive the sod.  Our tiller will cultivate between 3 inches and 5.5 inches deep for a good thorough till.  Tilling the ground breaks up the compacted existing soil making it easier for the sods root system to penetrate the ground surface.  This leads to the sods roots being able to grow bigger and faster contributing to healthier grass for the long term.  Grasses with bigger and deeper roots are more resistant to dying from drought than grasses that have smaller and shallower roots

Step 2: Bring in good soil
Most soils in our region are comprised of clay, silt or rocks.  These soil types are not ideal underlayment for healthy grass plants.  This being the case; it does not make sense to put down sod on top of ground that will not sustain the sod/grass above.  To solve this problem we can bring in Orgro soil and lay it on top of the tilled up ground.  Orgro is a nutrient and organic rich soil that is ideal for sod to be laid on top of.  This source of food, that the Orgro provides, will contribute greatly to your lawns long term success.

Step 3:  Lay the sod
We start by spreading starter fertilizer for you sod.  Then we bring in the sod rolls and start laying them in the yard.  Our guys make sure that the edges of the sod butt up to other edges tightly, we stagger our ends and cut the sod to fit snuggly against walkways, driveways, flower beds, etc.  After all the sod is laid, our company uses a specialized tool called a sod roller and roll it over all the sod to make sure it is firmly pushed on the ground.  We then water the newly laid sod, clean up the area and the job is complete.

All of our sod is cut from the sod farm the same day as it is installed on your property ensuring you get the freshest product possible.  We install tall fescue blend sod on about 95 percent of our jobs.  This type of grass species is well suited for our climate and is one of the most common grasses found in our region.  Our company will also install other varieties of sod including: Kentucky Bluegrass blends of sod, Zoysia blends of sod, Bermuda sod and Zenith sod.  Just let us know what type of sod suits you best.

One of the most important factors in keeping newly laid sod alive and looking great is consistent watering.  We will instruct you on when and how to water your brand new sod and the rest of the dos and donts so you have the information needed to maintain the lawn properly.

Planting Seed Divider
E&S Enterprise offers seeding services to our customers.  Laying seed is less costly than sodding a yard but takes a longer time to see a full yard of grass.  Our company only uses premium seed blends on our jobs because premium seeds get much better results than cheaper alternatives.  It is important to remember that seed will not grow in all situations and certain factors are necessary for a successful grow.  Trust our experts to let you know if seed is a viable option for your project.
Our seeding process includes

Step 1 Tilling the ground
We start with a full and deep tilling of the ground that is to receive the seed.  Tilling the ground helps break up the compacted dirt allowing the seed to root easier and deeper leading to a stronger grass plant.

Step 2 Bring in good soil (optional)
If your ground is nothing but rock, clay or silt it is advisable to bring in a nutrient rich underlayment that will feed the seed/grass for years to come.  We do encounter yards that are already full of good soils and would not benefit much from the additional soil (and cost).

Step 3 Spread the seed and cover the seed
Our company uses a broadcaster to overseed yards.  However, we pay special attention to not place too much seed on your yard because doing so can lead to poor seed growth.  If to much seed is applied to a yard, the seeds will compete aggressively with other seeds for the limited resources (water/sun/ground nutrients) which can lead to many seeds dying out.
After the seed is laid we will place a layer of straw or Orgro over it.  This layer blocks the new seed from direct sunlight, hungry birds, negative erosion effects from rain and this layer is a good nutrient source for the new seed.  Straw is less costly than Orgro but Orgro tends to get better results. After this we water the seed, clean up and the job is done.

It is very important to water this new grass seed on a regular basis.  We will instruct you on the correct watering method and the rest of the dos and donts of growing grass before we leave the job.

E&S Enterprise will install flower beds for our customers.  One of our representatives will meet with you to turn your flower bed vision in to a reality.  The flower bed design will include the shape of the bed and the flowers/ plants / trees you want planted.  Our flower bed installation process includes cutting in the bed edge, installing the plants, adding weed protection and spreading mulch (including colored mulch) to get that flower bed the way you want it.   If you would like a professional landscape designer to plan your project we would be happy to refer you to a designer who we have used on jobs in the past.
We also specialize in raised flower beds.  A raised flower bed sits above the rest of your lawn and really looks great in your yard.  We use a mixture of top soil and leafgro as the base for the raised flower beds which will give nutrients to your plants for years to come.
